A short thought on training classes
These past two weeks, I attended a few technical training classes and I was struck at the propensity of instructors to bash the previous versions of the product they're training you on, while they only have words of praise for the new product.

Why is it that the new version is virtually faultless, but will be close to a piece of crap in about 3 years from now?

Even in new products, it's easy to see shortcomings but most instructors consistently fail to acknowledge them. It's probably OK, because they have a vested interest in pleasing the vendor they're working for.

However, when you take a technical training, you really don't need the sales pitch any longer. What you need is a little honesty and objectivity. That's the least instructors could do to gain trust and credibility from their students.
